The private bus of the former minister, loaded with passengers, collided with a tree on the roadside due to the negligence of the driver. The accident is said to have happened around 3 pm on Monday. It was fortunate that no one was seriously injured. The driver and co-driver fled from the spot leaving the bus. The accident happened about 3 kilometers behind Mehta Chowk. Preliminary investigation revealed that the speed of the bus was more than 100. There was a stampede of passengers in the bus. There are reports of some passengers being injured. The administration did not confirm this.
According to the information, a private bus left from Amritsar for Mehta Chowk on Monday afternoon. There were about 50 passengers in the bus. The bus was absolutely packed with passengers. Around 3 o’clock in the afternoon, the driver lost control over the bus which was running at high speed on the road. The bus crashed into a tree on the roadside. The riders fell on each other. There was a complete stampede in the bus. People gathered. The driver and co-driver left the bus and ran away. The passengers themselves reached the nearby hospital for treatment. The administration did not give any official confirmation about how many were injured.
