In the presence of a heavy police force, the finance company had vacated farmer Pyara Singh’s house on court orders and sealed it with a government seal. Three days later, on Friday, hundreds of Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta Sidhupur activists took charge, broke the government seal, and restored possession of the house to Pyara Singh and his family.
The organization had made the announcement since morning.
Activists of the Kisan Union began gathering in Toosa village on Friday morning. The union had already made it clear that the farmer’s family would be given back their home. Around 12:30 pm, a large number of farmer activists gathered outside Pyara Singh’s house.
The government seal on the house was broken.
Amidst chants of “Long Live Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta Sidhupur,” the activists broke the government seal on the house, ushered Pyara Singh’s family inside, and restored possession. Following this, farmer activists staged a sit-in protest around the house. The activists also provided fodder and water to the milch animals tied to one side of the house. Farmer leaders stated that the family cannot be forced out of the house and the animals abandoned.
“No matter what sacrifices we have to make, we will not let the family become homeless.”
District President Shapinder Singh Bagga and Block President Amrik Singh Halwara stated that the Kisan Jatthabandhi will not back down from its decision. They added that National President Jagjit Singh Dallewal has also declared a fight to the finish to bring Pyara Singh’s family back home.
Farmer leaders stated that no matter what sacrifices they have to make, Pyara Singh and his family will not be left homeless. They also made it clear that any further action to seal the house will be opposed.
Farmers’ Union’s Allegation: The Land on Which the Loan Is Separated from the Mansion
Farmer leaders alleged that the plot/land on which the Pyara Singh family took the loan has a different number in the Revenue Department records, and that the land is occupied by a cattle shed. According to them, the Mansion against which the action was taken is built on ancestral land and has a Mustarka (shared account).
Allegation: The Finance Company Failed to Maintain the Correct Status of All Revenue Records
Union leaders allege that the finance company failed to provide accurate revenue records to the court and police administration, leading to the seizure and sealing of the Mansion.
