Ranjan Chopra, a famous hotelier of the city, has been cheated of about Rs 3 crore. Jalandhar City Police has registered a case of cheating against 5 people at Bhargava Camp police station on the statement of Rajan Chopra. The accused have been identified as Parminder Singh Sabharwal, Pavanish Sabharwal, Gurleen Kaur Sabharwal, Parmeet Sabharwal, residents of Chhatarpur Marg DLF, Mandi Rose, New Delhi and Umesh Sahn of Archive Office Infra, resident of Bhargava Camp. Police will soon issue summons to all of them and include them in the investigation. If the accused do not cooperate, then all will be arrested by the police.
Cheated in the name of investment
In the complaint given to the Commissionerate Police, Rajan Chopra had said that he came in contact with the accused living in Delhi through Umesh. The accused took the victim into confidence and promised him profits by investing in co-working space business. The victim had struck a deal for Rs 3 crore. When the accused got the money, they neither took any investment action nor returned the money.
Deed prepared with fake signature
According to the victim, a fake partnership deed was prepared by the accused by forging Rajan Chopra’s signature. Rajan was not allowed to know anything about it. When all these things came to the notice of the victim, he immediately complained about the matter. After a long investigation, the case has been registered by the Commissionerate Police.
