The Commissionerate Police has busted a gang of drug smugglers and arrested three criminals. Two kilograms of heroin, drug money and vehicles have been recovered from them. The smugglers are linked to Lucky sitting in America. Lucky was running this drug racket in Punjab.
Police Commissioner Jalandhar Swapan Sharma said that the police team was checking by putting up a check post near Jandu Singha Road from Lam village. During this, they saw a person going on a motorcycle. Police stopped the motorcycle on the basis of suspicion and questioned him, then the young man told his name as Satish Suman resident of Ganna village Jalandhar. When searched, 1 kg heroin was recovered from him.
Police investigation revealed that Suman and Balkar Singh resident of village Lakhanpal police station Sadar Jalandhar and now resident of Guru Ravidas Nagar near Akash Colony Hoshiarpur both used to supply drugs together. Police arrested Balkar and recovered 720 grams of heroin, Rs 12 lakh drug money, an i-20 car and a small electronic weighing machine.
Third accused caught with 250 grams of heroin
The commissioner said that another accused in this case, Kulwant Ram, resident of village Kila Barun Ram Colony Camp Bajwara, Police Station Sadar Hoshiarpur, was also later arrested with 280 grams of heroin. An i-20 car and a small electronic weighing machine were recovered from him.
The accused did not go back to jail after being released on parole
Investigation revealed that Satish Suman came in contact with Lucky, a resident of his village, who lives in America. After this, he got involved in this business and Lucky used to send consignments to him, who used to supply it along with his associates. The Police Commissioner said that Balkar was earlier arrested with one kg of heroin and was lodged in Tihar Jail but after being released on parole, he did not go back to jail.
Cases are already registered against two accused
Balkar, Kulwant Ram’s brother-in-law and both of them used to smuggle heroin together. Police have arrested all three, but Lucky is still absconding. A case has been registered against him under the NDPS Act in Police Station 8. CP Sharma said that Satish Suman has no criminal background while four cases each are pending against Balkar and Lucky and two cases are pending against Kulwant.
