Gurpreet Singh Sekhon and his supporters joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the presence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann during a rally held at Dana Mandi in Zira on Sunday. The Chief Minister welcomed Sekhon and his supporters upon joining the party. Amidst questions raised by the opposition regarding Sekhon, the Chief Minister said that sometimes a person is not wrong, but circumstances force them to take wrong steps.
CM Mann targets opposition parties
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann targeted the Congress and the Akali Dal, saying that both parties are engaged in making false allegations against him and his family. He said that if he wanted to earn money, he could have done so in the field of art, but he has chosen to serve the people by entering politics.
Taking a dig at the Akali Dal, CM Mann said that the Akali Dal once boasted of ruling Punjab for 25 years, but today the party doesn’t even have enough people to contest elections. He said that five members aren’t enough to form a committee within the party, and a three-member committee has to be formed. The Chief Minister said that Waheguru himself has created this situation for the Akalis.
Talking about the infighting within the Congress
Taking aim at the Congress, the Chief Minister said that Congress members are all busy holding on to their seats. He quipped that some Congress leaders are waiting for Rahul Gandhi to arrive, hoping to take him away on a bus. Mann said that even there, Congress members will be busy throwing turbans at each other. During the rally, supporters were enthusiastic about Gurpreet Singh Sekhon joining the AAP.
