The wheels of buses will stop in Punjab from Monday. Punjab Roadways, PRTC and PUNBUS employees have warned of strike. State President of Punjab Roadways PUNBUS/PRTC Contract Worker Union, Resham Singh Gill said that there will be a strike of Punjab Roadways, PRTC and PUNBUS on 6,7,8 January.

A protest will be held outside the Chief Minister’s residence in Chandigarh at 10 am on January 7. He said that the employees of Roadways PUNBUS, PRTC have been struggling for their demands for a long time. The demands of the employees have not been met by the government yet.

On July 1, 2024, a meeting of Punjab Roadways, PRTC, PUNBUS employees was held with the concerned officials of the Punjab Government, in which our main demand was to make the temporary employees permanent. The demands were to end the contract system, stop new buses and kilometer scheme buses in the department, ban transport mafia, reinstate the sacked employees with conditions and also to run the department in a proper manner and increase the salary. Some farmer groups will also participate in this demonstration.

Due to the three-day strike of roadways employees in Punjab, the common people are going to face a lot of trouble. Because due to non-operation of buses, passengers will have to resort to private buses or taxis. This will waste both time and money of the people. This will also cause a lot of financial loss to the department.
