A case of death of a youth due to drug overdose has come to light in Kapurthala, Punjab. According to the case registered in Satnampura police station of Phagwara, the deceased Manveer Kumar and his two companions administered the drug injections, after which Manveer’s condition deteriorated due to overdose.

The incident took place on January 24, when Sarabjit Singh alias Sabi called Manveer. Manveer mortgaged his phone for Rs 2000 to buy the drug and the three friends together administered the drug injections. Due to the high dose, Manveer fainted and was taken to Karamveer Singh’s house.

Surprisingly, when foam started coming out of Manveer’s mouth, his companions adopted a strange method to ‘cure’ him. They cut Manveer’s legs with a knife, so that allegedly ‘drug blood’ would come out. When Manveer’s sister Babita came to know about this, she took him to a hospital in Jalandhar, where he died during treatment.

The police have registered a case of culpable homicide against Sarabjit Singh and Karamveer Singh. According to Inspector Hardeep Singh, Sarabjit Singh has been arrested, while the search for the other accused is on. This incident shows the dangerous consequences of drug addiction and lack of awareness.
