The Supreme Court said that our doors are always open for farmers. They can come to us directly with their suggestions or demands or send their representative.
The Supreme Court also sought a response from the Punjab government on the health of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is on a hunger strike at Khanauri border. Punjab Attorney General Gurminder Singh said, “Talks have been held with Dallewal. He has refused to undergo medical tests. All his vital organs are working properly.”
The Supreme Court said in the order, “It will not be good for the state government if something happens to Dallewal. The state government should ensure that he continues to get all medical facilities.”
Supreme Court’s 4 instructions on Dallewal and farmers
- The state government should not be lenient on Dallewal
When the Punjab government said that it would be more appropriate to admit Dallewal. On this, Justice Suryakant said, “There are emotions attached to them. The state should do something. There can be no laxity. You have to handle the situation.”- It is important for Dallewal to remain healthy
The Supreme Court said, “Dallewal is a public personality. The interests of the farmers are attached to him. He says that the lives of 700 farmers are more important than his life. That is why he is refusing medical assistance. He may have ideological differences with the government, but it is important for Dallewal to remain healthy for the protest.”- We are forming a committee
The Supreme Court said, “We are forming a committee, this is the process. You can assure the farmers. We will talk to the concerned parties about whatever reasonable demands they have.”- Farmers should come directly to us
When the Punjab government said that we had tried to negotiate, but the farmers refused to talk. On this the court said, “The government is saying that farmers should be allowed to present their views directly in the court. Our doors are always open. They can come here directly and present their suggestions or demands or they can send their representative.”
